At Eve's Wake is the kind of games that makes you love a whole genre you don't enjoy otherwise; it is (with 999 and VLR) the prime example of how interactive and engaging a VN can be and is de facto the standard I'll hold the rest of similar games to.

The premise is your basic funeral for your dutch granny with all the weird uncles and cousins presents, except you have zero recollection of any of them and there is a chance you might not survive it.

The rest is a brilliantly writen psychological thriller, that manages to be fun and incredibly tense through only dialogue and branching narration. The art is on point, with gorgeous and expressive portraits of memorable and visually distinct characters. And the music is great and helps tremendously to build tension.
