I give up looking for a way to change the language, please devs help.

I found the correct settings using google translate and set them to English but the game didn't update. I tried editing the config files manually and replaced the CHZ *or whatever the Chinese abv is* then saved it with the english settings in place. That didn't work so I used ChatGPT to guide me using a hex editor to change the settings for the language but that didn't work either. I don't know what to do now. Any help is appreciated! It's been years since the game launched, and the demo just now got a huge update out of nowhere? I know it essentially used to be a somewhat out of date version of the game with missing voice acting and such, but it was kind of charming to play around with some of the older features like the old HUD. It's a bit sad to think that those aspects of the game's history are just gone forever now :/...
