Animals destroyed one of the fences and it has left some mounds of scrap over which I can't rebuild the fence. How to complete the fence again?

Ive tried looking it up and cant find anything about it. Ive found that the cloth scraps can be done at the tailor table but i cant for the life of me figure out where to do the metal scrap after shredding.

Is the only way to get more leather then, to make the beings on all maps respawn, by checking the option in the starting window ?
