the idea of a 2D vania styled Bloodborne intrigued me. however, the combat & movement is too stiff & slow for my liking. another game i'm glad i bought on sale.

Pretty dificult souls like-metroidvania fusion. LOVED IT!

I’ll start by saying I have played countless Souls-likes and Metroidvanias and have completed most if not all of them (like 100% complete, not just beat the “last boss”). For context, my gold standard for Metroidvanias are games such as Hollow Knight, Blasphemous 1&2, Ender Lillies/Magnolia, Super Metroid, Symphony of the Night, and for Souls-likes I’d say Dark Souls 1, Sekiro, Bloodborne, Lies of P, etc. So I’m no stranger to challenge and zero direction, most of the time I adore it.

This game couldn’t wipe those games asses. This is such an unbalanced, directionless, quite frankly absurd game, and most of my gripes are from how poorly it controls rather than the difficulty, which also is wildly unpredictable. The fact that the game will actually cancel your attacks if you button mash too much, requires you to come to a stop in motion to turn around to aim in the direction you intend, and will only let you dodge with an input lagged cooldown is completely ridiculous, not to mention the amount of chain attacks you get caught in because there’s no such thing as I-frames, just a terrible parry mechanic, which is only available with the correct stigma.

Can’t recommend anybody buy this game for any reason, especially at the price that’s being charged for it all this time after release.

Oh, and you can’t change resolution or remap controls in this game, in the year 2025. No windowed mode. Can only play how this garbage game wants you too.

The art can be interesting to look at. There’s a positive. (Blasphemous did this style of gothic body horror art way way way way more interestingly though.). Cheers, don’t buy this POS.
