This game makes me sad (and very mad at times). It has a funny premise, great art, music, and general controls. But it's so muddled with terrible level design and mechanics that it's hard to recommend. Honestly it felt like 100/120 levels were unenjoyable I would say.

While this game is technically a platformer often times it feels more like pinball (where you are the one getting flung around everywhere). There are often so many projectiles (especially in the later levels) that there is no way you can't get hit. And how Garlic responds is not consistent, sometimes you might just get stunned, or you might get a status effect that makes you run crazy and right into your death. The fact it removes your dash ability is really ass. There are also so many hazards you have to wait for and time that I rarely ever felt like I got into a "flow" like with other platformers. It instead often felt like I would inch towards the next checkpoint, pathetically scrambling up walls and waiting for fireballs to pass to then make my little jump to them be killed by the next unknown hazard. Most of the mini games as well are frustrating and the gimmicks as well feel very unpolished (ahem pogo section?) I also was irked that the love mini games are not replayable and the instructions go by so quick by the time you understand what to do you've already lost a significant chunk of time.

By the end I was seriously just irritated and only wanted to finish out of spite. The last world (12) feels like all the assets in the game were barfed out into a mass of chaos and checkpoints were spaced out to hand cramping levels. By the time I finally got my date and she wanted a rose...hell no. I am out.
