Kao: Round 2 is a vast improvement from the original game on the Dreamcast / PC, this release in specific being fine-tuned for modern day systems.

While the game takes a lot of notes from it's contemporaries around the time, it does come off as a bit rough, as mentioned the mileages between the sequel and it's predecessor are noticeable, so this can be overlooked, and honestly the roughness gives it it's 2000's charm. The visuals, audio, everything is reminiscent of that era, and I am happy they maintained that.

This game isn't long, it can give you a bit of an extra play-time if you want to 100% it, while most collectible spots aren't arbitrary, one or two I really had to wrap my head around. For 2 euros / dollars, you get a decent game from an era long gone.

P.S.: If you want to play the first game or Mystery of the Volcano, you should play the Dreamcast version of the former (no tank controls, more detail all-round) and the GOG re-release of the latter. (the Steam version has issues for whatever reason)

(Edit) P.P.S.: I completely neglected Kao Challengers because everyone just cites it off as a port to the PSP when it's actually a slightly more richer version with 4 more levels and a multiplayer component, however it's a bit buggy, they might (not) port the content from it to this version at some point.
