Steam solutions/fixing/troubleshooting

This guide will tell you, how you can solve some problems with steam.
It also provides some tips you may not have known.

We will write here everything down we know, some solutions could be already known by some of you, but there are some people who need help.
Normally, you have to wait some days for the answer from the support about your problem, often it also wouldn't help you...however reading this guide is faster.
However, if you have a problem & our guide &/or the support didn't help you, You may ask us here in the comment section.
BUT!!!: We can't promise everything because we've also have many problems with steam for which we didn't found the solution yet.
Also, we can't help you with your VAC-GAME-OR OTHER BANS, You can't get VAC Ban by an error, You cheated and You got the ban. This guide is only for steam problems!
At last, we hope that this guide will help some of you.

Download rate decreases

  • Change download server, restart steam, reload connection or restart your PC.
  • If a download constraint is set, f.e more than the line can take, then Steam begins to spin. The full speed is no longer reached, on the contrary, it is even slower because the download suddenly stops. (Every few seconds is throttled to 0 kB / s), so reduce download speed.

Pending Trade - Items currently not tradable", f.e when an item in a trade already been traded away

  • This disappears automatically after some time. It is also removed when you receive a new incoming trade proposal.
Library
  • a tip: hold ctrl (control) and choose the games you want to install, so you don't have to install every one of them manually. the same trick is for reinstalling or removing games.
  • Installing or Reinstalling games from Favorites with CTRL trick may not work.

"I'm looking for games in my library, but I can not find them, even though they are displayed as bought in the shop!"

A: search manually, is currently an unsolved problem at steam

    How to fix 5:0000065434 application error
  • 1.go to your game Library
  • 2.Your game (Mouse right click)
  • 3.then "Properties" click
  • 4.Copy (your games).exe & (eventually the launcher).exe to your Desktop
  • 5.Copy your copied applications back to the game folder.
  • 6.Let it replace them.
    (I guess its is in every game the same way to fix this error)
Payment problems
Paysafecard is debited but it is not added to your Steam Account

Go to https://steamproxy.com/steamstore/account/history/ and cancel if it does not work, follow the instructions of the support.

My price was doubled

Either nothing has happened, but has been displayed by steam only, check your shopping-history in your account details
Steam
Steam ads and commercials
  • Run the virus scanner (Malware bytes is useful)

No automatic login with check mark on Steam
  • Log out from the beta

"I can not sell my things" (check before, if the 1weeks deadline is over)
  • Re-install the app, it helps
  • But write the restoration code

A Windows 10 problem is there if starting 'DirectWrite' in Steam, the whole community is no longer to be seen in Steam itself
  • Turn off DirectWrite under Settings - Interface.

Steam: Disable connection to the community

1. Click "Steam" at the top left of the menu bar and select "Properties".

2.Change to the left of the "In Game" category and uncheck the "Enable Steam Overlay in Game" option.

3.The "OK" button saves your settings

4. Steam: Always run the game as an administrator

5. Press at the same time the "Windows [Display] (Get the latest software directly from Microsoft) and "E" buttons to open the Explorer.

6. Now locate the path from the game you want, so you will see the EXE file Windows 10: Older programs and games start up.

7. Right-click on the EXE file Windows 10: Launch older programs and games and select the "Properties".

8. Go to the Compatibility tab at the top, and select the Run Program as Administrator option.
Save your settings with "OK" and restart Steam.
Idling
Playing cards are spitting out after much too long time"
  • A: it's because you run too many games at the same time, so the time needed for the Dropbox is extended.

Note: Steam allows maximum 33 games to idle at the same.

"There are no more cards"
  • A: either you've finished everything or the game has no cards, or your idling program does not work properly, which is often fixed by a new installation.
Steam shop
"My shopping cart loads too long!"

  • Unfortunately you have to remove a few games from the list, otherwise, you can wait forever, then everything works & you can buy your game you want to buy, just a bit later.
  • This is currently the only solution.

"You can not pay your game, even though you have enough money"
  • A: Remove the game, wait a bit, then try again

"Cart cleared!"
  • A: Well...There is no solution to get it back, next time not many games in it.
  • Same happens if you have something in the cart & then add money to steam

"Shop crashes!"
  • A: There are too many players at the same time, or you have a problem with your Steam connection, steam restart is the solution, but sometimes you maybe can't even get back to steam, so choose.
Refund
"I bought many packs from the shop (for example the Sega packs) when I asked a refund I only got only one!"
  • A: go to the shopping history/extending, then to your purchase, click on your deal & try to restore one by one.
  • Ask for every of them a refund, then you will get it.
Friendslist
"I'm being spammed by notifications, as different friends start a game!"
  • A: go to settings, then to friends, then change it as you want it.

"My Fl is way too small & I have no money to enlarge it!"
  • A: in the account edit you can link your account to Facebook, which brings additional space for 50 friends)

"A removed friend is displayed as a friend (you can send a message) but do not "add to a friend"!
  • A: Ignore, or if it really bothers you, add him/her and then delete again.
"On blocked person can chat with me!"
  • A: close the chat & then just reblock
Steam-market
Item has not been purchased
  • A: wait & try again later

"I can not sell any more things"
  • A: You have reached your limit per year, you have to go to the market & give some information.

I can not sell anything anymore:
  • There is a limit: at over 1000 things steam stops
Inventory
Inventory does not load!
  • wait & reload or switch to mobile [7b]
  • or if the issue is on mobile,switch to Pc
Profile
Missing games in the games count after key-activation?
  • In my personal experience, they will be added after you bought a game from the store, I hope it's a bug.
  • Or it could be a removed game, which doesn't count as a game anymore, for example, one from the digital homicide studios.

Everything on my profile shows zero! (Games, lvl...)
  • Don't worry-its a bug, it will be away in some minutes.
Steam cloud
"SteamCloud currently unavailable"

  • Get out of the steam beta, just log off
  • Or stop/turn off downloads
  • Or restart steam
  • Or reset PC

SteamCloud doesnt let you start a game, after starting steam
  • Restart steam

Error when uploading screenshots
  • Restart steam
  • Wait a bit
Games
If your game launches in a window-mode & you can't change that, use one of the following solution
  • Posiibility:You can try to Set it in Ingame-configurations(after removing in steam)

  • Alt+enter (max-screen)

  • You can use the Tool "bordless gaming", it forces games into the full screen

  • Search the config.xml & fullscreen="false" to fullscreen="true"

  • Enter "-full" in the steam Set Launch Preferences

  • Enter "-autoconfig"in the steam-launch-preferences,it will set your game into the original state

error:
  • Ungültige Depotkonfiguration/Invalid depot configuration: solution-log out from steam & let it do an update

Already downloaded Games are not displayed as downloaded
  • Solution: go to the steam-settings, then to downloads, then to steam-libraries & then add the missing folder again.
  • If no file missing, start "redownloading", it will find the data again

    Game content still encrypted: Restart
  • Verify game cache and it will automatically fix the problem. to locate it, right-click on the game, properties, local files and click on verify game cache.

Game crashes
  • Check game data for errors, if nothing helps remove mods, none there? -Reinstall, then contact support

    Old games do not start: Open your Steam folder (... / programs (x86) / Steam), then you will find there the file "GameOverlayRenderer.dll". If you delete this file, the overlay is completely gone and you can easily enjoy Gothic 2 in Steam
    Dont worry,after the restart of steam, it will be back & you will have to repeat it

Games do not work

  • Run as an administrator, try to check the compatibility mode
  • Reinstall
  • Check for errors
  • Check for updates
  • View update news
  • Remove steam overlay (described above)

If everything does not help, go to the support, make an internet search.
I (Brintlo) also have such a problem with Spore at the time, on W7 does not work any of the above methods, but hopefully, it works with your game.

An error occurred while updating

  • Uninstall, download again, only way

Game can not be finished

1.Ctrl + alt + ECS

2.Go to the processes and end the process of the game

The game in your country is not PLAYABLE!

Change server or contact support or re-purchase after contacting support
WARNING: DO NOT USE VPN, STEAM SEES THAT (USERS ALREADY BEEN CAUGHT)

Troubleshooting Network Connectivity Issues
Network Issues

Check Steam Server Status >> Steam Stats ensure the issue which you are encountering is not related to system-wide downtime.

Test Your Router

Turn Off and On your router or check your network on your PC.

Troubleshoot all Firewalls

If you are installing Steam for the first time, the firewall might prevent Steam from connecting to Steam Network.

How to Fix:

  • Close the Steam client application.

  • Open the configuration view for your firewall program, and remove any instances of the following executables from the permissions:

  • steaminstall.exe

  • steam.exe

  • hl.exe

  • hl2.exe

  • steamTmp.exe

  • Start Steam. Your firewall should prompt you to set new permissions for steam.exe. If it does not, the security settings may be too strict - you will need to change these settings so you will be prompted to set permissions.

  • Give the Steam executables permission for all TCP and UDP ports when prompted.

  • Restart your computer and start Steam.

If you still encounter problems after that, you might try to follow these steps:

  • Exit the Steam client.
  • Temporarily disable your firewall.
  • Restart Steam and test connectivity.
  • Re-enable your firewall.
How to watch movies offline
Even if it seems impossible. Anything you stream gets saved to system cache.

  • Start stream pause. Once your network traffic stops it's done the loading.
  • Copy the temp cache file to a permanent place.
  • Rename it name.mp4 and now you have an offline version.

Anything that is streamed can be saved permanently that's how youtube savers work. It saves the stream cache.

Using the "-window" switch in Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition line Steam's "Set Lasaunch Preferences" made it into a windowed applicaction like I wanted, but I only wanted it temporarily and now I cannot seem to figure out how to get back to fullscreen mode. Simply removing "-window" doesn't work, nor "-fullscreen."

Help?
