Описание

Map description:

The River Rhine was the last obstacle between the allied armies and the important German industrial region - The Ruhrgebiet. During the German retreat most of the Rhine bridges were destroyed. When the spearhead of the 9th US Armored Division reached Remagen they were surprised to find an intact bridge - The Ludendorff Bridge. In a ferocious attack the 9th Armored rushed into the town and crushed down the small and weak german garrison. The final prize was the bridge over germany's last natural defense line. It was an important step the end the war...

Map based on the historical situation around Remagen during the battle of the Ludendorff Brigde in spring 1945. The map is optimised for gameplay.

My grandpa was there. He was about to get on the bridge just before it collapsed.

What a map ! At first I thought it "did no look pretty", but that old adage, don't judge a book by its cover applies here. In game play with AI (don't know if this applies to MP) the entire map comes alive. Everything seems to be placed and balanced for tactical game play. Good stuff.

It was a military bridge that was covered with wooden planks to allow vehicles to cross the bridge. YOu can see this dual purpose construction (and the road) here: https://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/USA/USA-E-Last/img/USA-E-Last-p224.jpg
